Argentine Tango Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Argentine Tango class was launched in 2008 to offer excellent instruction in Argentine tango to beginners through expert dancers in Philadelphia. Two of three staff, Andres Amarilla & Damian Lobato, tend to be Argentine teachers who have been dancing tango for 20+ years.

And group and private lessons, the Philadelphia Argentine Tango class offers two weekly practicas, month-to-month milongas and periodic larger events. We organized the first Philadelphia Global Tango Festival in-may 2010, and have now managed two significant electric tango rings, Otros Aires and Tanghetto, and workshops with many world-renowned tango trainers.

History

Established in 2008.

Andres Amarilla & Meredith Klein moved from Buenos Aires to Philadelphia and launched the Philadelphia Argentine Tango class in 2008. After teaching in over 30 locations globally into the room of just two years (2006-2007), Andres & Meredith had been seeking to invest in one tango neighborhood and one selection of students whom they might view grow as time passes. In its very first three years, the Philadelphia Argentine Tango class has taught 700-800 pupils, 1 / 2 of who were introduced to tango the very first time on school. In Summer 2010, Andres & Meredith hired a third expert dancer & teacher, Damian Lobato, who moved to Philadelphia to show full-time within Philadelphia Argentine Tango class. Andres Amarilla spent my youth in Buenos Aires, Argentina and started moving tango at age 11. He started teaching tango in 1997 and began touring extensively in 2006 along with his spouse Meredith Klein. In 2008, Andres & Meredith moved to Philadelphia and launched the Philadelphia Argentine Tango class. While serving as creative Director regarding the school, Andres continues to travel extensively to instruct & perform Argentine tango. This year alone, he has got taught in England, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Argentina, Canada and throughout the United States.
