Jorge Drexler's brand new album, Bailar en la Cueva, endeavors into new area for him: dance rhythms.

Jorge Drexler's tracks are called introspective and literate. He's been versus Paul Simon. But two years ago, the Uruguayan musician begun to ask yourself what it might take to compose dance-oriented songs. That is the assignment he provided himself on his most recent record album, Bailar en la Cueva, or "dancing in cave."

"I made a decision to start this record from the legs and through the movement centers in your body, " Drexler says. The concept, he explains, would be to move concentrate "away from that which was easy for myself, writing from and about emotions, and from and about tips — and proceed to the feet."

Drexler smashed in the United States market in 2004, after a tune he had written when it comes to motion picture The Motorcycle Diaries became the first Spanish-language work to win an Oscar for Best Original tune. He says that adding a-dance beat doesn't always have to mean abandoning the scholarly qualities of their music.

"If I'm gonna mention dance, i will try to consider a tremendously deep and psychological and anthropological, even biological side, from it, " he states. "exactly what it means, music and dance, for all of us, as a species."

Drexler isn't your ordinary songwriter: He's an ear, nostrils and neck medical practitioner which didn't start a music career until he was 30. The awe he believed learning about the laws of technology plus the normal world nevertheless discovers its way into songs like "Todo Cae." Into the song, whose title equals "everything drops, " love can be so effective it could beat gravity and entropy.

"That awe [is exactly what] we you will need to bring into tracks, the awe at perception while the contemplation of life and presence i'm through basic science, " he says. "the one thing that we learned carefully in my life was songs and medication, especially the basic sciences like biology, biochemistry and physics. I really cannot help but taking a look at the globe from the period of view."

Drexler's parents had been both physicians. Their grand-parents were German Jews just who escaped the Nazis in 1939, taking political asylum during the Bolivian Embassy in Berlin.
